Expanding our Global Consciousness

As Nancy O'Neil and I have been sharing the concept of the Cloth of Peace project, it has led me to people and organizations who truly are citizens of the world. When I was involved years ago as a volunteer for the Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA's International Development Committee, I had my first experience of meeting people who were thinking of others who lived on the other side of our planet. I was awakened to the idea of global responsibility and caring for others beyond our borders.

Today, this message is ringing loudly in my ears, only this time it is coming from those who have said "Yes" to peace in their lives and have a compassion for seeing peace in each country of the planet. It is not about "us against them" but seeing all people as worthy and desiring of all life's gifts. It is about each person finding their inner peace and extending that joy into their lives. In a world where the media shows us chaos and hatred, this idea seem to be too idealistic, but I have met many people who have embraced this concept and are living it, in spite of what is around them. These people are shining stars who are spreading peace around the world by simply "being" peace.

Visionary Artist, Francene Hart is one of these people whose artistry reflects her global awareness, caring and inner peace. Earth's Prayer above is her latest painting. I just received this picture from her as I was writing this Newsletter. She wrote to me, "I thought you might enjoy this latest painting named 'Earth Prayers' which I completed just this week. It was a powerful experience for me and I am certain it is timely for it to go into the world at this time. Blessings upon our mother earth and to all of you."

By thinking beyond ourselves and stretching our compassion and caring to those in need around our planet, we can each make a difference. We can be of service to others. We must remember that there are millions of people who are peaceful. Let's tap into all their peaceful energy and our own peaceful thoughts and expand it each day by embracing the way of peace in our lives... at home... at work... in our community. This is the time to find peace within. Your life will transform and grow in miraculous ways. The right people and things will come to you without searching for them. You will view the world in a new, creative way.

The Art of Spiritual Peacemaking Workshops

During the month of April, I am offering a four-week program, The Art of Spiritual Peacemaking. The Human Peace Symbol

What a wonderful time we had creating the Human Peace Symbol with over 300 people who joined together in the freezing cold to express their desire for peace on March 16th, at 7p.m. at Victoria Par. Our congrats to the committee of Humanist Movement for a great event. Thanks to Laura of Balance in Cambridge for providing the candles.

The Cloth of Peace

We are spreading the word of our Cloth of Peace project around our globe, but we need each of you to pass on this project to help it to grow quickly. Our goal is to have a mile long or longer cloth completed by August 2008. We want to have it ready for a peace event on September 21, 2008 (details will be announced.)
